New Mexico defeated UNLV, 62-58, Saturday night at The Pit to improve to 15-5 (2-3 Mountain West) for the season…the Rebels fall to 9-8 (2-3 MWC)…Saturday’s win gives UNM its best 20-game record since being 16-4 in 1998-99…the Lobos improve to 13-1 in The Pit this year and have won 25 of their past 28 at home.

New Mexico snapped a seven-game losing streak to the Rebels…it was the first Lobo win over UNLV since a 84-81 win overtime victory at The Pit on Feb. 5, 2002.

Senior Danny Granger, who missed the last three games due to a knee injury, made his first start since Jan. 8 against Wyoming…Granger collected his eighth double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds…it marks his 25th career double-double and his 15th at New Mexico.

Junior Jeff Hart made his first start since Dec. 22, 2002 against Southern Utah…he played a season-high 26 minutes…it’s the most minutes he’s played since Southern Utah…tied his career-high with five rebounds and had a career-high with three steals.

UNLV scored the first 14 points of the second half to go up 38-29 with 13:57 left in the game…the Lobos were held scoreless in the second half until the 13:46 mark when Ryan Wall hit a free throw…UNM missed its first six shots from the field in the second half…Mark Walters hit UNM’s first field goal with a 3-pointer at the 13:15 mark.

After UNLV opened up the half on a 14-0 run, the Lobos went on a 9-2 run of their own to cut the lead to 40-37 at the 12:05 mark…after tying the game three times, the Lobos finally regained the lead on a Jeff Hart tip-in with 4:52 remaining.

The Lobos hit their first two 3-point attempts in the first half, then missed 11 straight…they didn’t hit another one until Mark Walters hit a 3 with 25 seconds left in the first half.
