SEATTLE, Wash. – The New Mexico men’s tennis team, ranked 65th nationally, jumped out to an early lead but couldn’t hold on as they fell to 21st-ranked Washington in Seattle, Wash.

The doubles competition started out with UNM at No. 3 as Andy Kuharszky and Mike Ricks got the best of senior Derek Boland and junior Eric Conklin with an 8-2 win. The freshmen tandem of Max Jones and Kamil Pajkowski got the Lobos back in it with an 8-4 win over Daniel Chu and Peter Scharler at No. 2. With the point resting on the shoulders of third-ranked seniors David Kowalski and Ryan Stotland, the dynamic duo netted a 9-8 win over Christoph Palmanshofer and Alex Vlaski.

Washington went on a run, netting two straight singles points to take the lead. Jones tied things up at 2-2 with his 6-1, 6-3 win over Chu but that was the only singles points the Lobos would grab.
