The University of New Mexico women’s basketball team continues their homestand Thursday with BYU coming to town. The Lobos are 12-2 on the season and 1-0 in the MWC, while the Cougars are 10-5 overall and 1-1 in the conference. Tip-off is set for 7:00 P.M. at The Pit and can be heard live on KNML 610 AM.
TONIGHT’S GAME:Tonight’s game features the Lobos of the University of New Mexico hosting the Cougars of Brigham Young University in a Mountain West Conference matchup.
SCOUTING NEW MEXICO:The Lobos enter tonight’s game with a 12-2 record and 1-0 in the MWC with losses to No. 7 Texas (75-56) and No.11 Minnesota (75-35) and wins at New Mexico State (57-44) and Oklahoma State (60-56) and home wins over Missouri (67-58), Gonzaga (76-54), Bowling Green (73-43), San Diego (58-50), No. 23 Arizona State (61-45), New Mexico State (56-27), San Francisco (63-52), Morgan State (101-22), Utah Valley State (69-29) and Air Force (72-58). New Mexico’s leading scorer on the season is senior Lindsey Arndt at 9.3 ppg. with freshman Dionne Marsh following at 8.9 ppg. Arndt also leads the Lobos in rebounding at 5.4 rpg. and senior Mandi Moore leads UNM in assists at 6.1 apg.
SCOUTING BYU:The Cougars enter the contest 10-5 overall and 1-1 in the MWC with wins over Southern Utah 76-56, Nevada 81-64, Portland 70-35, George Washington 76-70, Southeast Missouri State 62-52, USC 76-73, Weber State 63-46, Montana State 80-42, Portland State 77-50, Colorado State 74-54 and losses to Arizona 81-64, Hawaii 56-44, Vanderbilt 86-47, Wright State 64-56 and Wyoming 74-63. The Cougars are led in scoring by Ambrosia Anderson at 11.5 ppg. Leading BYU in rebounding is Danielle Cheesman at 9.1 rpg and Julie Sullivan leads the team in assists at 4.1 apg.
