New Mexico defeated Wyoming, 89-75, before 17,130 Saturday night at The Pit…UNM improves to 14-2 for the season, the best start by a Lobo team since the 1998-99 team started 16-2…the 14 wins equal last season’s win total (14-14)…the Cowboys fall to 7-6…the Lobos improve to 12-1 at home for the season…UNM has won 24 of its last 27 games at The Pit.

Wyoming leads the all-time series, 59-50…the Lobos have won two of the last three meetings…UNM snapped its two-year losing streak in MWC openers…the Lobos are now 4-2 all-time in MWC openers and 4-2 in home MWC openers.

UNM shot 51% (31-of-60) from the field…the Lobos have shot 50% or better in 10 of their 16 games this season…the Lobos have won 30 straight games when shooting better than their opponent…the Lobos have made a 3-point basket in 469 straight games.

The Lobos made 16 of their last 17 free throws…they shot 72% for the game (21-for-29).

The Lobos had six players score in double-figures for the first time since Dec. 30, 2000 vs. Drexel…the Lobos won that game, 93-60…UNM had five players score in double-figures earlier this season against Tennessee and Duquesne.

Senior Troy DeVries netted a team-high 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting…he scored 11 points in the first half on 4-of-6 shooting…he was 3-of-4 from 3-point range…he tied his collegiate high with four steals, matched when he was at Portland State.

Junior Kris Collins scored 13 points…it was his fifth game scoring double-figures, but first in 10 games…he scored 10 points in the first half on 4-of-7 shooting.

The Lobos dominated the first half of play, leading 49-31 at the break… New Mexico has led at the half in 15 of 16 games this season …UNM shot 61% from the floor (20-33) for the half…the Lobos hit nine of their first 11 field-goal attempts and 16 of 21…UNM led by as many as 24 points (47-23) at the 3:32 mark…Wyoming closed the half on a 8-2 run…UNM outscored Wyoming 14-2 in fast-break points.

Wyoming began the second half on a 12-2 run in the first five minutes, which cut New Mexico’s lead to eight points…dating back to the first half, the Cowboys’ run was 20-4 over 8:30… the Lobos responded with a 9-1 run of their own in the next 4:30, pushing their lead back to 16 points (60-44)…the Cowboys cut the lead to 13 (64-51) with 7:30 remaining, but the Lobos once again stormed back with a 15-4 run the next four minutes to put the game out of reach, 79-55, with 3:39 remaining.

Senior Danny Granger left the game in the first half and did not return…he scored 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting in the first half with three blocks…UNM led 39-19 with 6:27 left in the first half when Granger left the floor.
