New Mexico Head Coach Ritchie McKay:

“I thought this was an excellent effort by our group. We came out with a great deal of energy and enthusiasm in the first half. We really executed very, very well at the offensive end, but when Danny (Granger) went out, obviously they cut the lead. I was as proud of the team as I’ve been all season. You didn’t see the guys hanging their heads, they just turned up the energy and executed a little bit better defending a tall team that was going inside. It’s a team that won on the road against Creighton and had some good wins. We did a great job and I’m really, really proud of all my guys.”

What’s the status on Danny Granger?

“I don’t know. We don’t talk about injuries, and obviously he didn’t play in the second half. He hurt himself when he was trying to block a shot.”

Wyoming Head Coach Steve McClain:

“Our new guys found out what conference play is all about. The first five minutes New Mexico was blocking every shot we put up. They were challenging everything. I think our new guys were in a little bit of shock. We dug ourselves a hole, and again I give New Mexico credit. They make shots – that’s what they do here at home. That’s why they’re 14-2. We didn’t react very well to them.”

Senior Danny Granger:

(On the play of the team after he went out of the game.)

“I think it was excellent. This shows that we are a real good team , and that we are more than just one individual. We have got a lot of weapons, not just me.”

(On the play of Tony Danridge and Blake Harden off the bench.)

“I think that is one of the characteristics of a good team. When you get role players coming off the bench and scoring, rebounding and defending, you are going to be tough to defeat. It just shows the strength of our team.”

Junior David Chiotti:

(On what was said after Danny Granger went out of the game.)

“We just had to play as a team. When one of your key players is out, you’ve just got to step it up. Everyone contributed in their own way for us to win. We knew that we were still a good team and we could still win this game. We had a 20-point lead at that time so we were pretty confident. When they got it back close, we pulled together.”

Freshman Blake Harden:

(On his play in the game.)

“When ever coach call me up, I don’t know how much time I will be getting, so I just play as hard as I can. I try to give David (Chiotti) a breather, so he can come back and dominate. Pretty much my role is just to defend. That’s what I tried to do tonight and the ball just fell in my hands.”
