The University of New Mexico women’s basketball team will end a nine game homestand on Tuesday night against Morgan State University. The Lobos enter with a 9-1 record, including a 7-1 record during the homestand, while the Lady Bears come to The Pit 1-7. Tip-off on Tuesday is set for 7:00 P.M. at The Pit and can be heard live on KNML 610 AM.
TONIGHT’S GAME:Tonight’s game features the Lobos of the University of New Mexico against the Lady Bears of Morgan State University in a non-conference matchup.
SCOUTING THE LOBOS:The Lobos enter tonight’s game with a 9-1 record with a loss to No. 7 Texas (75-56) and wins at New Mexico State (57-44) and Oklahoma State (60-56) and home wins over Missouri (67-58), Gonzaga (76-54), Bowling Green (73-43), San Diego (58-50), No. 23 Arizona State (61-45), New Mexico State (56-27) and San Francisco (63-52). New Mexico’s leading scorer on the season is senior Lindsey Arndt at 10.8 ppg. with freshman Dionne Marsh following at 7.8 ppg. Arndt also leads the Lobos in rebounding at 5.8 rpg. and senior Mandi Moore leads UNM in assists at 6.3 apg.
SCOUTING MORGAN STATE:Morgan State comes to The Pit with a 1-7 record with a win over Savannah State 55-51 and losses to Albany 73-54, Maryland Baltimore County 87-52, Coppin State 88-62, Temple 72-42, South Carolina State 80-65, Yale 79-70 and Texas Pan American 68-55. The Lady Bears leading scorer is Sharonda Watson at 10.0 ppg. Leading MSU on the boards is Candace Holmes at 4.8 rpg., while Markeda Hollingsworth leads them in assists at 2.9 apg.
THE COACHES:UNM is led by head coach Don Flanagan who is in his 10th season at New Mexico. Flanagan is 200-90 at UNM. Morgan State is led by Angelyne Brown who is in her third year at MSU. Brown is 5-60 at the helm of the Lady Bears.
