“Troy was a tough team to prepare for not only that we thought we would play Pepperdine but I was very impressed with Troy and how much enthusiasm and energy they played with and how much togetherness they play with. We scrambled last night to get the scouting report ready and our guys did a great job of knowing their personnel and defending a couple of their plays. I really felt like we won the game on the defensive end and I know people will talk about how well we shot from the field but our defense created some easy baskets.”
About Troy being a tough team to put away and your team to continue to hold them off?
“Yes, they made a change at Christmas break. They were playing a little differently before the break and their coaching staff did a nice job getting them ready for the tournament. They came in a day early and played much more together and much more under control. It is tough when you play a team that shoots so many threes and when those things are going in it is tough, but I thought we acted the right way by going inside and we did a nice job.”
Talk about your team as you get toward conference?
“We will wait and see for January 8th, but I have liked our team all year long and besides two 20-minute halves have prevented us from being undefeated. We have a good team. We play together. We play hard defensively and continue to improve as different guys are starting to step-up off the bench. I like our group I think we have a chance.”
