Albuquerque, N.M. (AP) – Abbie Letz scored 16 points and New Mexico’s defense held No. 23 Arizona State to a season-low point total in a 61-45 win Saturday.

Arizona State (7-2) shot a season-low 30 percent and had its six-game winning streak halted. ASU, averaging just under 72 points, hit just 8-of-33 shots in the second half.

Amy Denson led ASU with 14 points and Kristen Kovesdy with 10. Guard Kylan Loney, the team’s leading scorer (13.8 ppg) failed to score, going 0-for-7 from the field before fouling out with 2:13 left.

Letz hit 6-of-9 shots and was 4-of-5 on 3-pointers for New Mexico (7-1). Mandi Moore added 12 points for the Lobos, who won despite having more turnovers (24) than field goals (22).

“We were terrible,” said ASU coach Charli Turner Thorne. “We played like it was a practice. We had open looks all days, but we didn’t finish plays.”
