The University of New Mexico women’s basketball team will continue it’s home stand on Saturday afternoon against No. 7 Texas. The Lobos bring a 4-0 record into the game, while Texas is 3-2 on the season. Tipoff for Saturday’s game is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. at The Pit and can be seen locally on KWBQ WB 19 or heard on 610 AM The Sports Animal.

TODAY’S GAME:Today’s game features the Lobos of the University of New Mexico against the No. 7 Longhorns of the University of Texas in a non-conference match-up.

SCOUTING THE LOBOS:The Lobos enter today’s game with a 4-0 record after road victories at New Mexico State (57-44) and Oklahoma State (60-56) and home wins over Missouri (67-58) and Gonzaga (76-54). New Mexico’s leading scorer on the season is sophomore Katie Montgomery with 11.0 ppg, followed by freshman Dionne Marsh at 10.3 ppg. Senior Lindsey Arndt leads the Lobos in rebounding at 6.3 rpg. and senior Mandi Moore leads UNM in assists at 6.0 apg.

SCOUTING TEXAS:Texas comes into today with a 3-2 record with losses at No. 25 UCLA (63-60) and No. 5 Georgia (78-64) and wins against Penn State (84-69), No. 4 Tennessee (74-59) and McNeese State (80-26). The Longhorns are led in scoring by Tiffany Jackson at 19.0 ppg., followed by Heather Schreiber at 11.8 ppg. Leading UT in rebounds is Jackson at 8.8 rpg, while Jamie Carey leads them in assists at 3.4 apg.

THE COACHES:UNM is led by head coach Don Flanagan who enters his 10th season at New Mexico. Flanagan is 194-89 at UNM. The Longhorns are led by hall of famer Jody Conradt who is in her 29th season at Texas and 36th season overall. Conradt is 733-209 at UT and 840-271 overall.
