Ann Arbor, Mich. – The University of New Mexico women’s No. 11 doubles team of junior Maja Kovacek and sophomore Iva Gersic defeated the No. 2 nationally ranked team of Megan Muth and Amy Wei from William and Mary University, 8-3, in the consolation semifinals Saturday morning at the ITA National Indoor Individual Championships at the University of Michigan.
The Lobo pair advances to the consolation finals where they will play Denver’s No. 24 team of Yanick Dullens and Suzana Maksovic, tomorrow at 10 a.m. ET.
This week’s event, which concludes Sunday, is the second of three national tournaments during the 2004-05 collegiate tennis season. The ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships were inaugurated in 1978 for the men and 1984 for the women.
