The University of New Mexico women’s tennis team saw several Lobo players listed in the 2004 fall regional rankings released Tuesday, Nov. 30 by the ITA. Highest ranking for New Mexico came in the doubles category where junior Maja Kovacek and sophomore Iva Gersic were picked as the No. 1 doubles team in the central region.
Last fall season, Kovacek was ranked No. 1 in the central region for doubles with former Lobo Sandy Lukowski. Kovacek and Gersic finished the recent fall schedule with an overall mark of 13-3.
Senior Michelle Heidbrink and freshman Lucy Scott were ranked as the No. 15 doubles team in the region as they finished fall 2004 with an 8-4 record.
In singles, Kovacek was ranked No. 2 after finishing fall play 12-2 overall while Gersic was ranked at No. 4 in the central region. She ended her fall season with an overall singles record of 11-2.
