ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Seniors David Kowalski and Ryan Stotland are the fourth seed in this week’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Indoor Championships starting Thursday at the University of Michigan Varsity Tennis Center. Kowalski and Stotland, ranked 24th nationally will play Baylor’s Lars Poerschke and Martija Zgaga, ranked 15th nationally, at 9 a.m. ET.

This week’s event, which concludes Sunday, is the second of three national tournaments during the 2004-05 collegiate tennis season. The ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships were inaugurated in 1978 for the men and 1984 for the women.

Kowalski and Stotland earned a bid to the National Indoor Championships thanks to their run in the ITA’s first national tournament, the ICY HOT/ITA All-American Championships help Oct. 1-10 in Chattanooga, Tenn. The duo made it to the finals of the tournament, a first for any UNM doubles team, after beating three consecutive top-25 teams including the nation’s top-ranked Sam Warburg and KC Corkery of Stanford.

The top four seeds in doubles this week are:
Men
1. Scott Green and Ross Wilson, Ohio State
2. KC Corkery and Sam Warburg, Stanford
3. Ludovic Walter and Jason Zimmerman, Duke
4. David Kowalski and Ryan Stotland, New Mexico

Ohio State also captured the ITA All-American title last month. The men’s draw features the last three national title winners – Green and Wilson (ITA All-American), Stanford’s Corkery and Warburg (’04 NCAAs) and Duke’s Walter and Zimmerman (’03 ITA National Indoors).

This weekend’s semifinal and final matches will be broadcast live on the internet on www.RadioTennis.com.A complete schedule of play is listed on the www.itatennis.com.
