This week’s featured Lobo is sophomore Kellen Walter. Kellen is in his second year on the New Mexico men’s basketball squad. A native of Grand Junction, Colo., Walter is a 6-10 forward who has a sweet stroke from behind the arc. Last season he was 4-9 from 3-pt. range in eight games. He saw his first action this year against Santa Clara, knocking down a pair of three’s in six minutes of action. Kellen is a big Arizona State football fans, mainly because his brother Andrew is the Heisman Trophy candidate quarterback for the Sun Devils.

Here are some of the questions you submitted for sophomore Kellen Walter.

How did you get such a sweet stroke from the three-point line? What are you doing out on the paint? (Jason Pierson, Denver)

Jason, I you shooting threes and you made me want to be a great three-point shooter! Ever since I saw you I wanted to play exactly like you.

I heard that you’re living in a house with other teammates, what has changed since moving into the house? (Mike, Albuquerque)

I get a lot more rest and time to myself, which I need and like. The house is close to campus, which makes it easy to get to school. Living in the house is a lot better deal all around; there is more quiet time to study and to relax.

Did you consider any schools other then UNM coming out of high school? (Michael S.)

I considered some D2 Schools and Junior Colleges in Colorado, and I could have had the same walk on deal at Colorado State, but UNM was the place for me.

What is the deal with you and tuna? (Jason, Grand Junction)

I don’t know what the heck that is.

Besides basketball what do you like to do? (Chelsea, Amarillo)

I like to take it easy, rest, play video games, watch TV and movies and watch my brothers play sports.

What is the biggest strength of this year’s team/season?

We are committed to defense and have the ability to shut down teams. That will be our biggest asset this year. Offensively we are the most unselfish team in the country.

How much do Lobo fans help you on game day?

They help a whole lot. From the first guy on the team to the last guy on the bench you can feel their support. Even when you don’t play, Lobo fans are still there for you!

What is the biggest challenge going into the Western New Mexico game?

We have to focus on ourselves and not play down to the opponents. We have to play our basketball the way we know we are capable of.

What is your favorite Thanksgiving food?

My favorite Thanksgiving food is turkey with gravy. Well anything with gravy. Actually, maybe it’s gravy.
