LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The UNLV Rebels barely beat the New Mexico women’s swimming and diving team tonight at the Buchanan Natatorium, downing the Lobos 124-116. It was the Lobos first meet after a ten-day break.
Senior Becca Barras continued her undefeated streak on the boards, winning the 1- and 3-meter boards with scores of 273.60 and 305.55, respectively. Barras has now won 10 consecutive diving events this season.
Junior Robyn Miller also won two solo events and was on a winning relay team. Miller claimed the 200- and 500-yard freestyle with times of 1:53.60 and 5:03.56, respectively. Miller was a key member of the 200-yard free relay that won in a time of 1:37.60. Junior Kelsey Leckovic, sophomore Jenna Syverson and freshman Tori Clarridge also swam on the 200-yard free relay team.
Clarridge also took first in the 100-yard free (53.39) while classmate Rachel Evans won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.27).
The Lobos fall to 1-4, 1-3 in Mountain West Conference action while UNLV evened its record to 3-3, and 2-1 in the MWC.
The Lobos continue their road trip, entering the 2004 Speedo Cup Invitational hosted by UC-Irvine Nov. 18-20.
