New Mexico has won back-to-back games at BYU for the firsttime in the 54-year history of the series…the Lobos endeda 31-year drought with their 20-16 in Provo in 2002…UNMimproved to 6-4 on the year to attain bowl eligibility forthe fourth straight season….the Lobos also earned theirfourth straight win this season, tying the longest streakunder head coach Rocky Long…New Mexico also improved to astunning 8-0 following bye weeks, under Rocky Long…UNM is11-0 since 1996 following scheduled open weeks.

In addition: UNM has won at least 4 conference games inthree straight years for only the second time in schoolhistory (also 1958-60), the Lobos will also have at least6 wins in four straight years for the first time since1961-64 and have clinched their fourth straight non-losingseason for the first time since 1958-64…New Mexico has a10-3 record in November games since 2001.

UNM has also won 4 road games this year (4-2), including 3straight, for the first time since 1997 (4-1)…the lonesetbacks were at Oregon State and at Air Force…New Mexicois 6-1 in its last 7 MWC road games, 8-2 in its last 10and 10-3 in its last 13.

New Mexico played its first 10 a.m. game in four years…intheir last morning start, the Lobos defeated Air Force29-23 on Oct. 21, 2000 in Colorado Springs.

Saturday was New Mexico head coach Rocky Long’s 83rd gameat his alma mater, surpassing Bill Weeks (1960-67) formost career games leading the Lobo program…Long is (39-44)10 games into his seventh season.

Junior tailback DonTrell Moore went over 100 yards rushingfor the fourth straight game on the road, fifth timeoverall this season and 18th time in his career…Moorefinished with 101 yards on 25 carries, including 44 in thefourth quarter alone…he now has 3,516 career rushingyards…in 9 November games, Moore is averaging 148.3 yardson the ground.

Junior wide receiver Hank Baskett turned in one of hisbest games of the year, after giving his left knee bruisetime to heal over the bye week…Baskett notched his 3rd100-yard game of the year, finishing with 125 yards onjust 4 catches…he also made a leaping finger tip grab forhis 3rd TD of the year.

UNM had a season-high 7 sacks for a loss of 46 yards, themost since the 2003 regular season finale atWyoming…several of the sacks were a direct result of tightcoverage in the secondary….BYU notched just 2 sacks,allowing the Lobos to take over the MWC lead with 34 sacksthis season…six different players dropped BYU QB JohnBeck, including freshman Michael Tuohy who had acareer-high 2 sacks from his defensive end position.

The league’s best rushing defense also held BYU RB CurtisBrown to a mere 14 yards on 11 carries, snapping hisstreak of 4 straight games over 100 yards…Brown had beenaveraging 117.6 yards in MWC play and 76.8 yards rushingoverall…the past 3 games, New Mexico has allowed 74 totalyards rushing (24.7 avg.) and 783 yards of total offense(261 avg.).

New Mexico forced 3 more turnovers, while committing justone…UNM is now +13 (27-14) on the season in turnovermargin…in 6 MWC games, its +13 (17-4) and its 14-2 duringthe four-game winning streak.

Sophomore QB Kole McKamey completed 58.3% of his passes(12-7) and had 143 yards, his best total in 7 games sincethrowing for 173 vs. Texas Tech…McKamey had his streak of79 straight pass attempts without an interception snappedat the end of the 2nd quarter…under pressure, he tried tothrow the ball away, but was unable to get the pass pastthe BYU secondary, resulting in the INT…McKamey hadn’tthrown a pick in 4 games (3rd quarter vs. Utah)…New Mexicois 5-1 this season when both McKamey and DonTrell Mooreare in the starting lineup.

The Lobos’ 14 points in the first quarter were the most byUNM in the opening period since also scoring 14 vs. UNLVon Nov. 1 last year – a span of 14 games…UNM went3-and-out on its first two possessions before scoring apair of touchdowns on its next two drives…the Lobos heldthe ball for a combined 1:20 on its two 1st quarterscoring drives

The Lobos had their longest scoring drive of the year interms of plays, yards and time of possession…New Mexicodrove the ball 87 yards on 15 plays, using up 7:52 of thethird and fourth quarters…DonTrell Moore plunged in for a1 yard TD to give the Lobos a 21-7 lead with _ remainingin the game.

Junior cornerback Gabriel Fulbright notched his 5thinterception of the year, establishing a career-high…hisprevious high was 4 INTs in 2003…Fulbright and teammateBrandon Payne have combined for 10 INTs this season, thebest of any cornerback duo in the Mountain WestConference.
