Head Coach Ritchie McKay:

“I’m really glad to get this first one out of the way. I think our guys obviously were nervous. It’s hard to simulate their kind of pressure, but I thought we did a great job of handling it in the second half. We need to work on our turnovers, but we did shoot 63 percent.

“I don’t think we had very much urgency with the basketball, and consequently we never got in a rhythm. We only shot 10 3’s the entire game. We’re turning down 3-point looks and trying to make great plays in the lane.”

On Danny Granger:
“Danny is a great player, and I think he tried to do too much at times tonight, but when he gets the ball on the front court we’re very difficult to stop.”

David Chiotti:

“This is the first game so we know there are things we need to improve on, but we also know we didn’t play very well. They’re a pressure type team, so once we set our offense up I got some really good looks in motion. I got some really easy baskets because they don’t have a set defense.”

Danny Granger:

“I think we got ahead of ourselves on the pressure – we tried to do too much on the first pass. It was hard to run the offense because everything was so wide open for us. But once we got pass their press, it was like 4-on-2, and we could attack. It’s uncharacteristic of me to have that many turnovers in a game. Again, I think we just got ahead of ourselves. It’s nice to play a game the very next day.”
