The 14th-ranked New Mexico women’s golf team leads the Landfall Tradition after two rounds by two strokes after shooting a 3-under 285 in the second round Saturday afternoon. The Lobos are 6-over at 582 (297-285) for the tournament, while No. 11 Tulane is 8-over at 584. UNM won the Landfall Tradition one year ago, which is being held at the par-72, 6,034-yard Jack Nicklaus Course at the Landfall Country Club.
Senior Kailin Downs leads the field with a 4-under 140 (73-67). The preseason All-American, who is shooting for her second individual title, shot an impressive 5-under 67 in Saturday’s second round.
Sophomore Ashley Rollins is tied for 12th place with a 2-over 146 (71-75), while senior Christina Spence is tied for 14th with a 3-over 147 (75-72). Junior Christine Fernandez, ranked No. 33 in the nation, is 6-over at 150 (78-72) and in a tie for 23rd place. Redshirt freshman Giselle Claux is 8-over at 154 (80-74).
Round three of the Landfall Tradition concludes Sunday morning.
