Albuquerque, N.M. – The University of New Mexico women’s tennis team won the entire Central Regional Team Playoff Saturday night at the Lobo Tennis Club. The Lobos captured a decisive 4-1 victory over Mountain West Conference foe BYU.
With the playoff win, UNM has a chance of receiving a bid to the prestigious ITA National Team Indoor Championships held February 3-6 at the University of Wisconsin.
Next week, Maja Kovacek and Iva Gersic travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. for the ITA National Individual Indoor Championships, November 4-7. They will compete in the doubles portion of the tournament. For more Indoor Championship information visit www.itatennis.com.
The Lobos are back in action as a team November 12-14 when they host the UNM Fall Invite at the Lobo Tennis Club. The tournament will mark the end of UNM’s fall schedule. New Mexico’s regular season begins January 21 when they host Northern Arizona in a dual match.
