Welcome to GoLobos.com’s “Ask the Player” section. Here you will be given a chance to present questions to your favorite Lobo men’s basketball player. We will take the best questions each week and post the answers on GoLobos.com. This week’s featured Lobo is freshman Chad Toppert. Toppert is a local product who graduated from Albuquerque Academy in 2004. Chad was a 1st team all-state, all-city and all-metro selection for the Chargers last season. He averaged 20.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg and 2.0 apg, earning district player of the year honors for head coach Mike Brown. Toppert came to UNM with plans to walk-on as a freshman, but his impressive work ethic and smooth stroke from behind the three-point line earned him a scholarship for the 2004-05 season. Both of Chad’s parents played basketball at UNM, so you know Lobo basketball is in his blood.
