The University of New Mexico women’s soccer team plays its last two home games at the UNM Soccer Complex this week as it hosts Mountain West Conference foes Utah on Thursday, October 21 at 6 p.m. (MDT) and BYU on Saturday, October 23 at 11 a.m. (MDT). For ticket information call 925-LOBO.

Notes: BYU had an excellent post season run last year as the Cougars made it all the way to the Elite Eight at the NCAA Championships. BYU is entering its game against UNM after a slow weekend against Texas and Air Force. The Cougars fell to Texas in overtime, 2-3 and tied with Air Force after two overtimes, 1-1.

Over The Weekend
The University of New Mexico women’s soccer team dropped two MWC matches over the weekend against UNLV and San Diego State. The Lobos played a close game against UNLV, falling 2-1 and were close to beating SDSU as they lost 1-0 in overtime to the Aztecs. Sophomore Bridgette Sanchez was the scorer for New Mexico in the game against UNLV. Defender Eryn Paetz had the assist.
Seniors Say Goodbye
Seniors Coco D’Angelo and LeAnne Hendren will play their last two home games with UNM this week. In their four years with New Mexico, D’Angelo and Hendren have worked as key players for the Lobo squad.
Coco D’Angelo currently has 2 goals on the 2004 season and one assist through 13 games while Hendren is third on the team with the most shots at 14. Here is a breakdown of what D’Angelo and Hendren have accomplished in their years at UNM.

The Comforts Of Home
With only six home games on the 2004 schedule, New Mexico is making the most of its time on hometurf. The Lobos post a 3-1-0 record at home and have outscored their opponents 11-6 while at the UNM Soccer Complex.
From 1998-2003, UNM has compiled an overall home record of 18-25-6 (.429). In 2002, the Lobos featured a winning home record of 4-3-1. With two more home matches on the 2004 season, the Lobos look to capture a winning record at home for the second time in the last seven years.
Down To The Wire
New Mexico has been keeping the pressure on its opponents throughout the season even in the games that ended up in losses. Out of the eight losses accumulated over the season, half were decided by only one goal.
Sharp Shooters
Freshman Katelyn Ley remains at the top of the charts for UNM as she leads the team with 20 shots, 11 of them on goal. She is also tied for the team lead with three goals. Freshman Jordan Johnson is the other Lobo player to boast three goals on the season.
Freshman Anna Neu is second on the team with 15 shots. Four of her attempts have been on goal with one resulting in her first career goal (10/10 vs. Air Force).
The Sidekick
Sophomore Kristine Sweat has one goal on the season, but her strength lies this year in the assist column where she leads the team with four. The most assists Sweat collected in a game so far this season was two in the match against Texas Tech.

Hooray For UNM Fans
The Lobo women’s soccer team has the second best attendance average overall in the MWC with about 1,075 fans an outing. BYU leads the Mountain West with an average 1,219 per game.
For the past four years, New Mexico women’s soccer has averaged over 1,000 fans a game at the UNM Soccer Complex.
