STANFORD, Calif. –
The 11th-ranked New Mexico women’s golf team finished in seventh place at the Stanford Intercollegiate Sunday afternoon at the par-70, 5853-yard Stanford Golf Course. The Lobos shot a 299 in the third round, finishing the tournament with a 295-287-299–881. No. 9 Arizona State won the tournament with a 282-282-288–852 (+11).
Junior Christine Fernandez (Las Vegas, Nev.) led the Lobos with a 73-72-72–217 (+7), which put her into a tie for 16th place. Senior Kailin Downs (Bend, Ore.) tied for 18th place after carding an 8-over 218 (75-69-74).
Redshirt freshman Giselle Claux (Lima, Peru) tied for 31st place with a 12-over 222 (72-75-75), while sophomore Ashley Rollins (Austin, Texas) tied for 48th place with a 16-over 226 (75-73-78). Freshman Alexandra Phelps (Albuquerque, N.M.) finished the tournament after shooting an 81-73-81–235 (+25).
The New Mexico women’s golf team returns to action Oct. 29-31 when the Lobos participate in the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C.
