SUNRIVER, Ore. — The 10th-ranked New Mexico women’s golf team fell three spots to seventh place at the NCAA Preview Tuesday afternoon after shooting a 17-over 301 in the second round. The Lobos are 20-over (287-301–588) heading into the tournament’s final round on Wednesday. The prestigious 21-team tournament features 16 ranked teams, including nine in the top 10.
Senior Kailin Downs moved up seven spots to stand in a tie for seventh after shooting even-par 71 for the second straight day. After carding a team-best 3-under 68 in the first round, junior Christine Fernandez shot a 4-over 75 in the second round and is at 1-over 143 for the tournament.
Senior Christina Spence is tied for 47th with a 74-76–150 (+8) and sophomore Ashley Rollins is tied for 66th with a 74-79–153 (+11). Freshman Alexandra Phelps is 25-over with an 83-84–167.
