FUKUSHIMA, JAPAN – The University of New Mexico men’s golf team moved into first place after two rounds at the Topy Cup in Fukushima, Japan. The Lobos shot a second round 9-under par 279 on the par-72, 7,086-yard Tanagura Country Club and are now 12-under par (285-279=564) for the tournament. The Lobos lead is 10-strokes over second place Auburn and 15-strokes over third place Texas.

Senior Miguel Griego led the Lobos in the second round. Griego shot a 5-under par 67 to move into a tie for first place with Rosenfield of Texas at 6-under par (71-67-138). Junior Spencer Levin fell to third place with a round of 71 and is now 5-under par (68-71=139) for the tournament. Other Lobo results are sophomore Charlie Beljan shot a second round 71 and is 1-under par (72-71=143) tied for eighth, senior Jay Reynolds is tied for 21st at 3-over par (74-73=147) and junior Mark Anderson shot the second best round of the day for the Lobos with a 2-under par 70 to move into a tie for 27th at 5-over par (79-70=149).

The Topy Cup concludes tomorrow with the third round of play. Results will be posted on the New Mexico website following each round.
