ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Senior outfielder Sean Murray (Albuquerque, N.M.) has been named to the Academic All-America Baseball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Murray boasted the highest GPA on the team with a 4.20 GPA in Mechanical Engineering to earn second-team honors.
Murray, a co-captain on this year’s baseball team, finished the season with a .333 batting average. He recently was named one of 77 students nationwide to earn the prestigious Truman scholarship, which awards $26,000 toward graduate studies. Murray garnered Academic All-District VI honors for the second straight year earlier this spring.
For his career, Murray was a solid hitter at the plate, owning a .345 average with 186 hits, 37 doubles and 112 RBI. He led the Lobos in 2003 with a .383 batting average.
