ATHENS, Ga.– No. 74 sophomore Maja Kovacek fell short of advancing from the singles round of 32 today as she was defeated by Clemson’s No. 6 junior Julie Coin, 6-3, 6-0 at the NCAA Championship in Athens, Ga. Kovacek had a strong 2003-04 run as she finished the season with a solid overall record of 22-13, 5-1 in Mountain West Conference play.
Kovacek now moves to doubles action with partner senior Sandy Lukowski this afternoon. The No. 8 Lobo tandem is set to face Arizona’s No. 5 doubles team of Dianne Hollands and Maja Mlakar today at 10:30 a.m.(MDT). For live results of the match go to www.georgiadogs.com.
