COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.– The No. 29 New Mexico women’s tennis team captured the 2004 Mountain West Conference regular season title today after defeating Air Force 7-0 in Colorado Springs, Colo. The Lobos earned their first conference championship in the 26 year history of the UNM women’s tennis program. Last year, UNM ended the season third in the MWC with a 5-2 conference mark.

This year, UNM swept through regular season conference play, winning 20 of the 21 doubles matches and 37 of the 42 singles matches. The Lobos enter the 2004 MWC Championships in San Diego, Calif. April 29-May 1 with a seven match winning streak and an overall record of 18-3.
