LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico JV men’s golf team finished in fifth place Tuesday afternoon at the Herb Wimberly Invitational hosted by New Mexico State University. The Lobos shot a 9-over 873 (288-296-289) for the tournament, while Wichita State took first place, shooting a 23-under 841. Chris Stroud of Lamar took medalist honors with a 14-under 202.

Individually, Madalitso Muthiya tied for third with a 6-under 210 (68-71-71) to lead the Lobos. Miguel Griego also finished in the top 10 with a 1-under 215 (76-70-69).

Tyler Symons placed in a tie for 37th with an 8-over 224 (74-76-74), while Jeb Grueneberger tied for 49th with a score of 73-79-75=227. Chase Thomas took 61st with a 72-79-82=234.
