After defeating two ranked teams last weekend, the University of New Mexico women’s tennis team finds itself moving from No. 51 to No. 32 in the I.T.A national rankings released today. The national ranking is the highest the women’s tennis team has seen in the last five years.
The I.T.A. also released indivdual rankings with three Lobo players on the list. Sophomore Maja Kovacek made a huge leap from No. 99 to an impressive No. 57 national singles ranking while freshman Iva Gersic remains in the national poll with a No. 99 singles ranking. Kovacek was also ranked No. 16 in doubles with teammate Sandy Lukowski, improving on their previous national ranking of 21.
The No. 32 Lobo tennis squad are at home this weekend to host No. 70 Wisconsin, Saturday, Feb. 28 and Houston, Sunday, Feb. 29.
