The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation named Lobo junior keeper Andrew Weber the Brine Player-of-the-Week along with UNLV sophomore Peter Clitheroe. Weber led the Lobo defense to two shutout wins this weekend over No. 25 San Jose State and San Diego State.
Weber’s two shutouts give him 16 for his career, which is the most all-time at UNM. The Lobos, 1-0, win over San Jose State is their first win over a ranked team since UNM defeated No.17 Cal State Fullerton in the 1999 season. UNM’s, 3-0, win over San Diego State secured them a spot in the MPSF postseason tournament on November 13-16 in Sacramento, Calif. This is the second time in Weber’s career he has earned the MPSF Brine Palyer-of-the-Week award and the first for a Lobo this season. Weber was the 2002 MPSF Goalkeeper of the Year and a 3rd team All-Midwest Region selection.
