ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP)David Chiotti scored a career high 22 points to
lead New Mexico to a season-opening 95-42 win Saturday over Division II member
San Francisco State.

New Mexico shot a school record shooting 72.2 percent from 3-point range,
including making 9 of 10 in the second half. The Gators failed to make a
3-pointer in eight attempts.

Chiotti scored the Lobos first seven points and had 19 by halftime. The
sophomore center required the first 14 games of his freshman season to score as
much.

Guard Ryan Cleaves led the Gators with 11 points.

New Mexico (1-0) held the Gators (0-1) to 19 points in the first half, the
fewest points by a Lobos opponent in one half since McNeese State scored 17 on
Dec. 21, 1998.

New Mexico outrebounded the Gators 39-16.

The Lobos led by as many as 55. The 53-point margin of victory was the
seventh largest in school history.

San Francisco State made just 29.2 percent of its shots in the first half.

New Mexico point guard Javin Tindall scored 18 points, making four of five
3-pointers.
