Albuquerque, N.M. – The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation named Lobo sophomore Jeff Rowland its Brine Player-of-the-Week along with Air Force’s Dan Walsh. Rowland scored two goals in the Lobos’ match against San Diego State this weekend, including the game-winner in overtime. The win secured the No. 2 seed in the MPSF Tournament and gave the Lobos a first round bye. It is the second consecutive week a Lobo has been named Brine Player-of-the-Week with junior Andrew Weber taking home the previous honor.

Rowland leads the Lobo offense with six goals and three assists despite a slow start to his Lobo career. He missed his entire senior season of prep soccer at Albuquerque’s La Cueva High School due to a knee injury. He walked on to the Lobo squad as a freshman and did not play any for the first 12 games. However, his impact was definitely felt when he scored the game-winner against Denver in the MPSF semifinals and another goal against Bradley in the NCAA Tournament. This season, Rowland has worked his way into the starting line-up and is a key part of the Lobo offense. Rowland is also excelling in the classroom, recently being named to the District VI All-Academic team for his 3.90 grade-point-average in General Management. This is Rowland’s first career player-of-the-week award and the second for a Lobo this season.
