MPSF Rankings: Sophomore Lance Watson is tied for tenth in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation scoring with 13 points and tied for fifth in goals with six.
Moss on Team of the Week: Sophomore defender Brandon Moss made this week’s CollegeSoccerNews.com’s National Team-of-the-Week. Moss helped lead the Lobo defense to two shutouts over the weekend and put UNM back on the winning track. It was the first time Moss has earned the honor in his career and the first National Team-of-the-Week award for any Lobo this season.
UNM’s Record Book: Junior goalkeeper Andrew Weber scored two shutouts over the weekend, giving him 16 on his career which is the all-time mark for shutouts at UNM. He also sits in second place in all-time saves at UNM with 263 and needs 75 to tie Nate Busek (’93) for the top spot at 338. Senior Stian Eriksen has taken 123 shots in his career and ranks 5th all-time at UNM.
Weber MPSF Player-of-the-Week: Junior keeper Andrew Weber is this week’s Brine MPSF Player-of-the-Week. Weber’s two shutouts over the weekend helped him earn his second career MPSF Player-of-the-Week honor and the first by a Lobo this season.
Stingy Defense: The Lobo defense has kicked into high gear over the last three games and has not given up a goal since losing to Air Force, 2-0, on October 24. It is also the first time the Lobos have recorded three-straight shutouts since the end of the 2001 season.
A Win or Tie vs. SDSU Would… secure the second seed in the MPSF Tournament for the Lobos. This is important because the top-2 seeds receive first round byes and only have to win two games to win the tournament. The lower four seeds have to win three games in four days to take home the championship.
