Tempe, Ariz. – The final day of the ASU Fall Invitational ended on a high note for the Lobos after winning three doubles matches and seven singles matches.
Freshman Iva Gersic kicked off the winning streak in singles competition by defeating Marquette’s Veronica Briseno 6-2, 6-2. Following Gersic was senior Sandy Lukowski’s 6-2, 6-4 win over Marquette’s Callan Smith. The winning tone was set for the rest of the day as the Lobos continued to dominate the remaining singles matches.
In doubles highlights, Maria Ruiz-Fabrega and Iva Gersic battled with ASU’s Colalillo and Tomas and won a close 9-8 match. UNM’s Tjasa Suvak and Nora Quintal swiftly defeated Marquette’s Minkowski and Bukacek 8-1.
The Lobos return to tennis action on Oct. 22-26 for the ITA Regionals in Salt Lake City, Utah.
