SOMIS, Calif. – The 13th-ranked New Mexico men’s golf team is in a tie for 10th place after two rounds of The Club Glove Intercollegiate held at the Saticoy Country Club. The tournament concludes with the final 18 holes on Tuesday. Pepperdine (280-291-571) leads the 12-team field by 18 strokes heading into the final round.
The Lobos shot a two-round total of 312-298-610 (+34) on Monday, but improved their team score by 14 strokes in the second round. Junior Jay Reynolds (Austin, Texas) and sophomore Tyler Symons (Albuquerque, N.M.) each fired a nine-over 153 for the day and are currently tied for 36th place. Sophomore Jay Choi (Cerritos, Calif.) carded a 154 (78-76) to stand in a tie for 41st, while senior Ian Medlock (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) and freshman Charlie Beljan (Mesa, Ariz.) are tied for 46th with a score of 155.
Individually, Pepperdine’s Michael Putnam paced the field with a 36-hole score of 67-73-140 (-4).
