Las Vegas, Nev.– The University of New Mexico women’s tennis team completed the second day of the UNLV Fall Invite with three singles and one doubles win. The big doubles win of the day came in the finals of Flight three when UNM’s Iva Gersic and Maria Ruiz-Fabrega defeated USD’s Lauren Perl and Lina Baensch 8-3.
In singles semifinal action, UNM successfully advanced three to the finals, which continue tomorrow at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. UNM’s Sandy Lukowski advances after defeating USD’s Tara Livesay 6-4,6-2. Sophomore Maja Kovacek defeated Emma Murphy of USD 6-4, 6-1, placing her in a final spot and Maria Ruiz-Fabrega returns tomorrow for singles action after defeating Mari Muller of UA 6-2, 6-2.
Also, UNM’s Iva Gersic picked up a singles consolation victory after a 6-2, 6-1 win over UA’s Robin Stephenson.
