Question: Being a local kid, does this game mean more to you than it might to some of the other guys?
Ryan Cook: Of course. It’s an in-state game. It’s a battle for the bragging rights of the state here. Me being from the north, I favor New Mexico.
Q: Do you know a lot of guys on New Mexico State?
RC: Not really, I know one. I went to high school with Matt Gurule. I think he plays cornerback now. That is the only connection I have down there.
Q: So this is a game you will be bitterly disappointed with if you don’t win?
RC: Of course. It is always a disappointment when you lose. But you just have to take the good things out of it and move on.
Q: How much adjustment is going on still on the offensive line without the two starting guys, especially Jason Lenzmeier?
RC: There really is not that much adjustment because everyone is at the expected level to go ahead and step in to fill those shoes.
Q: What does New Mexico State do defensively?
RC: Basically they run a 4-3 field blitz. It’s basically the same defense Colorado State runs.
Q: Is there going to be a lot of trash talking on the field? Is this just another game or how are you approaching it?
RC: You just have to approach it the same way you do every game. You have to go in mentally prepared and be physically ready to play.
Q: So you aren’t going to say anything on the field?
RC: I never talk on the field. I let my actions speak for themselves.
