ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Senior wide receiver Adrian Boyd’s 80-yard touchdown reception 1:13 into the annual University of New Mexico Cherry-Silver spring football game gave Silver a 7-0 lead it would not relinquish as the Silver rolled 26-6 over the Cherry squad on Saturday afternoon at University Stadium. Backup quarterbacks Tali Ena and Kole McKamey each passed for over 100 yards for the Silver and Cherry, respectively.

Junior transfer running back D.D. Cox led all rushers with 55 yards on nine carries, including a 24 yard touchdown run to cap the Silver scoring. Meanwhile, sophomore running back DonTrell Moore left after his first carry of the game with a sprained ankle. Sophomore Daniel Ramirez filled in admirably for Moore, rushing for 26 yards on eight carries. Senior Rashaun Sanders had a strong game for the Cherry, pulling in a game-high four catches for 113 yards, including a 42-yard touchdown from McKamey.

“I thought the players were well organized and I thought they were enthusiastic,” said head coach Rocky Long. “We got a lot of work done this spring and got a lot of the younger players a lot of reps without getting anyone hurt. I think that’s a successful spring.”
