COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo – Sophomore tennis player Tiffany Robertson has been awarded the Mountain West Conferences Player of the Week honor following her outstanding 3-0 singles performance at the UNLV Invite last weekend in Las Vegas, Nev. Robertsons singles record currently stands at 13-6 overall, 7-2 in dual competition.
The Blenheim, New Zealand native helped the Lobos to a 2-1 record in Las Vegas as well as a third-place finish at the tournament . She defeated Loyola Marymounts Jennifer Baker, 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 4 spot on the first day of competition and didnt stop there. On day two of the tournament, Robertson and the Lobos faced a true challenge in the No. 44 Oklahoma Sooners. The sophomore earned UNMs only point of the match with a win at the No. 5 position over Bethany Griffin, 1-6, 6-2, 6-1. In the Lobos third-place win over No. 75 CSU-Northridge on March 2, Robertson got a solid win over Olga Yepremian, 6-3, 7-6, to finish out her impressive showing.
The honor comes as the first of Robertsons career and the second for the UNM tennis team this season, after freshman Maja Kovacek received the award on Feb. 19 following her 2-0 singles record against No. 57 Boise State and No. 40 Washington.
