Oklahoma City, Okla. – After the initial rounds of preliminary competiton on Day 3 of the MWC Championships, Lobo freshman Robyn Miller is in second place in the 400 IM with a time of 4:29.69. Aimee Dunavant also had a top finish for New Mexico, grabbing the third spot in the 100 fly (56.79) and surpassing her season best time this year by just under two seconds. She is on target to break the existing school record in the event which was set at 56.58 by Amanda Carson at the 2001 MWC Championships.
Other Lobos to place highly in the preliminaries were freshmen Heather Morsilli and Whitney Thomson. Morsilli finished in sixth place in the 400 IM with a time of 4:32.97. Thomson placed sixth in the 100 back, clocking in at 57.98, cutting exactly a second off her highest time in the event this season and coming within eight tenths of the school record.
