Colorado Springs, Colo. — At Clune Arena in Colorado Springs, the UNM women’s basketball team humbled the host Falcons, 71-40, to even its Mountain West Conference record to 4-4.
The Lobos (14-7 overall) held only a slim 32-26 lead at the break, but broke out the sharp shooting in the second half, outscoring Air Force (7-14 overall, 1-6 MWC), 39-14 the rest of the way.
New Mexico was a blistering 30-for-53 (56.2%) from the floor, including a five-for-18 mark from beyond the arc. The UNM defense was as stellar, holding Air Force to 26% shooting (13-50).
Senior Jordan Adams was perfect from the floor Saturday, going 6-for-6 from the field and hitting all four of her free throw attempts. Melissa Forest was equally deadly, connecting on 6-of-10 shot attempts and both of her attempts from the charity stripe.
With the win, New Mexico broke a two-game conference losing streak. The Lobos host the University of Wyoming Thursday, February 20 in the Pit. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
