The University of New Mexico will take on UNLV in what the Lobos are hoping will be their first conference sweep of the season. The Lady Rebels are coming off a tough one-point 73-72 loss to conference spoiler, Air Force. UNM defeated San Diego State 75-42 on Thursday.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS: The Lady Rebels are coming off a close loss to UNM’s travel partner, the Air Force Falcons. The Falcons won only their second conference game since the MWC was started. UNLV is now even in the conference at 2-2. Three Lady Rebels were in double-figures as the team leader, Constance Jinks had 22 points (20.9 ppg season).

SCHOOL, SEASON, CONFERENCE HIGH: The Lobos racked up a school and conference high with 14 blocks against the Aztecs. Six Lobo players had one or more blocks with Jordan Adams swatting away five. For the season the Lobos have 74 blocks with every player having at least one.

A MILE HIGH AND LOUDER THAN…: The Lobos begin their 12th season playing in one of the greatest home arenas in all of college basketball. UNM has an overall record of 122-66 (.649) in The Pit and are 50-33 in conference games (.602). Since Don Flanagan arrived on campus The Pit has welcomed the women’s basketball team with open arms. Since 1995, the Lobos are 108-31 (.777) overall and 44-11 (.800) in conference games.

POINT ONE: The Lobos have outscored their opponents 546-488 over the last eight games. During that stretch, the Lobos are 4-4. In those same seven games the Lobos outrebounded their opponents 298-310.

SOPHOMORE SENSATION: Mandi Moore is making a name for herself in the MWC record books. She set the MWC sophomore record for assists in a game with 12 against Air Force and she continues to buildon her record-setting freshman performance from last season. Moore had a freshman record 146 assists last year and already has 115 this season with a minimum 12 games remaining. Moore only needs 11 more assists to set the single season MWC sophomore record.

SEEING DOUBLE: Jordan Adams has had one double-double this year while Chelsea Grear has had two. Grear’s latest double effort was against New Mexico State as she had 20 points and 10 rebounds. Mandi Moore has now joined the club as she had 16 points and 12 assists against Air Force.

GLASS MENAGERIE: The Lobos have proved dominating on the boards this season. UNM has grabbed 128 more rebounds then their opponents, averaging 42.2 to 34.7. Against Memphis the Lobos grabbed a season-high 57 rebounds.

CENTURY CLUB: Two current Lobos have played in over 100 games during their careers. Jordan Adams has played in 111 games and Chelsea Grear has played in 108. Cristal Garcia is closing in on the century mark, having seen action in 90 games.

START IT UP: Mandi Moore is the only current Lobo to have started in every game for her career. Moore has started in 48 games over 2 years.

REJECTION! Jordan Adams has had at least one block in every game so far this year. The Lobos have 74 blocks on the season compared to their opponents 31. Every UNM player has recorded at least one blocks. Adams had a season-high six rejections against Louisiana Tech on Dec. 21. and she leads the team with 39 total.

FAN SUPPORT: The Lobos posted their highest attendance of the year against Air Force with 13,350. UNM is now 4th nationally, averaging 9,610, their highest average in school history.

SEASON ACCOLADES: Jordan Adams has been named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Week twice already this year. She’s the only Lobo so far to receive the honor.

FIVE FOR THE DRIVE: The Lobos are going for their fifth 20-win season this year. The Lobos have had all four of their 20-win seasons under head coach Don Flanagan with their best ever record of 26-7 coming in Flanagan’s third year, 1997-98.

SCORING DRIVE: The Lobos averaged 65.8 points per game last year and held their opponents to 57.0 ppg. This year, New Mexico is averaging 71.1 ppg and their opponents are at 57.9 Ten of UNM’s nine wins have them scoring 70 or more points.

LEADERS OF THE PACK: The Lobos currently are leading the conference in scoring offense (69 ppg) and turnover margin (+4.33). UNM also leads the conference in free throw percentage (82.1).MANDI MOORE MINUTE MANIPULATOR: Mandi Moore led the team in minutes last season averaging 35.2. This season Moore has played the most minutes on the team at 598 minutes. Moore is the only player this year to play an entire game, she’s done it four times.

SIZE MATTERS: The Lobos have seven players on their roster that are 6’0 or taller. The starting five last season averaged 5’10.6. The three incoming freshman average 6’0.3. Jordan Adams and Jana Francis are the two tallest on the roster at 6’3.

D MINUS: The Lobos have ranked in the top-25 final NCAA statistics for defense since Coach Flanagan came on board. Last season the Lobos were ranked in field goal percentage defense and scoring defense. This season the Lobos have held their opponents to 36% from field goal range and only 57.9 points a game.

D-FENCE: UNM has outrebounded their opponent defensively in 10 games this year. Currently UNM has 481 defensive boards to their opponents 384. The Lobos are 1-2 when they have been outrebounded defensively and are 0-4 when they’ve been outrebounded.
