The University of New Mexico and the New Mexico State Aggies meet for what UNM is calling the 50th time. NMSU records has this as the 51st meeting. UNM is coming off a 88-46 victory of Kent State in the Holiday Inn Mountain View Invitational. The Aggie defeated Cal State Northridge, Fri., Nov. 27, 77-56.

50 AND STILL GOING STRONG: The oldest rival that the University of New Mexico has is against in-state rival, New Mexico State. According to UNM records this series began in 1974-75 with 49 games having been played. UNM leads in the series 27-22. The Lobos have won 12 consecutive games against the Aggies.

BOARDS FOR EVERYONE: Every single Lobo but one has grabbed at least one rebound this season. Last year four UNM players recorded double figure rebounds in 13 games but this season no one player has recorded double-figures.

GIVE AND TAKE: Mandi Moore finished last year with 146 assists and this season shes racked up 33 dishes, 8.3 a game. Moores assist to turnover ratio is already one of the best in the conference. Currently shes leading the conference in assists and has a 2.06 assist-to-turnover ration. Shes had three games this season where shes recorded nine assists.

GOOD, BETTER, BEST: The Lobos have proved dominating in several stat categories this year. UNM has grabbed 51 more rebounds then their opponents, averaging 42.5 to 29.8. UNM is shooting 36% from three-point range while holding their opponents to 18%. UNM is holding their opponents to a mere 54 points per game while averaging 73.8 themselves.

WATCHING JORDAN: Jordan Adams became the sixth player in UNM history to score 1,000 points last season and she has already moved into fifth place on the chart. Adams is already the womens all-time shot blocker but she is also looking to become the schools all-time shot blocker, surpassing Luc Longley of the mens team.

BLOCK PARTY: Jordan Adams has had at least one block in every game so far this year. Last season she had a block in every game but one. The Lobos have 14 blocks on the season with seven players recording one or more, two players have more than one.

ALL-TOURNAMENT HONORS: Junior Melissa Forest was given MVP honors after the Holiday Inn Mountain View Invitational. Forest led UNM with 32 points and 12 rebounds. Jordan Adams and Cristal Garcia were both chosen to the All-Tournament team. First-time honors for Forest and Garcia.

GOING FOR FIVE: The Lobos are going for their fifth 20-win season this year. The Lobos have had all four of their 20-win seasons under head coach Don Flanagan with their best ever record of 26-7 coming in Flanagans third year, 1997-98.

CHARITY STRIPE: The Lobos have been outshot at the free throw line by their opponent in every game so far this year. UNM is shooting 68% from the line and their opponents are shooting 76%.

65S NOTHING: The Lobos averaged 65.8 points per game last year and held their opponents to 57.0 ppg. UNM won all 14 games where they scored 65 or more points. This year, New Mexico is averaging 73.8 ppg and their opponents are at 54.2. All three of UNMs wins have them scoring 73 or more points.

PRESEASON FAVORITES: Jordan Adams has been chosen to the MWC preseason all-conference team. A second team all-conference pick last year, the 6-3 Adams ranks sixth all-time at UNM with 1,270 points and is first all-time in blocks with 258.

A MILE HIGH AND LOUDER THAN…: The Lobos begin their 12th season playing in one of the greatest home arenas in all of college basketball. UNM has an overall record of 171-110 (.643) in The Pit and 42-31 in conference games .607). Since Don Flanagan arrived on campus The Pit has welcomed the womens basketball team with open arms. Since 1995, the Lobos are 119-96 (.806) overall and 42-9 (.823) in conference games.

SIZE MATTERS: The Lobos have seven players on their roster that are 60 or taller. The starting five last season averaged 510.6. The three incoming freshman average 60.3. Jordan Adams and Jana Francis are the two tallest on the roster at 63.

TOP OF HER CLASS: Lobo senior, Jordan Adams has been chosen a nominee for the Senior CLASS Award. The award started last season and the first womens honoree was Sue Bird. Ten finalists will be determined in early February. The names of the finalists will appear on an official ballot during March. The national winner will be determined by three different panels of voters; a fan balloting opportunity, a national media committee and a committee of Division I coaches.

GIVE ME A MINUTE: Mandi Moore led the team in minutes last season averaging 32.5. This season Moore has played the most minutes on the team at 140 minutes, 35.0 mpg.

ADAMS FAMILY: The duo of Jordan Adams and Daja Adams resulted in 105 blocked shots last season. Jordan already has six on the year.

D MINUS: The Lobos have ranked in the top-25 final NCAA statistics for defense since Coach Flanagan came on board.
