Albuquerque, N.M. – For the fourth time this season a University of New Mexico men’s soccer player has been named to a National Team of the Week. This time it is senior co-captain, Junro Narita who was named to CollegeSoccerNews.com’s national team of the week. Narita blasted home the game-winner in the 53rd minunte against Bradley in the opening round of the 2002 NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament.
Narita is second on the team in scoring with 18 points on five goals and eight assists. Narita, a native of Beppu, Japan, has helped lead the Lobos into the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year. New Mexico plays Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Mo. on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. (M.S.T.). The 18th-ranked Billikens received a 1st-round bye in the tournament.
Other Lobos to be named to national teams of the week include Ben Ashwill, who was named to last week’s Soccer America team and CollegeSoccerNews.com’s team of the week for September 16, and Danny Bills who named to CollegeSoccerNews.com’s team on November 4.!
