Towson, Md. – The University of New Mexicos Erchen Theys has been named to the Verizon All-America Second Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The junior midfielder was a crucial part of the UNM womens soccer teams success this year during the regular season as well as in post-season action as the Lobos advanced to the Mountain West Conference championship game but fell, 5-1, to BYU. Off the field, Theys exemplifies the ideals of a student-athlete in her ability to maintain an extremely high G.P.A. despite the rigors of her athletics schedule.

The Langdorp, Belgium native started and played in 20 games for the Lobos this season. She accumulated 16 points off of six goals, two of which were game-winners, and four assists. Theys finished the season second on the team in points and second in shots, with 32.

In her studies, she maintains a perfect 4.00 G.P.A. as an International Management major. Theys is also a two-time MWC All-Academic Team selection.

The Verizon All-America honor is the first for a New Mexico womens soccer player in the history of the program.
