Bloomington, Ind. – Freshman Robyn Miller lead the Lobos with a tenth place finish overall in the 400 IM yesterday at the Indiana Invite. Her preliminary time of 4:31.89 left her in 12th place, but in the finals Miller set a time of 4:28.04, bettering her first time by almost four seconds to give her the tenth spot.
Freshman Heather Morsilli also competed in the 400 IM and placed 24th (4:39.78).
Lobo swimmers Nicole Overeem and Kelsey Leckovic finished next to each other in the preliminaries of the 200 free. Overeem completed the event in the 25th position (1:57.90) while Leckovic finished in 26th (1:58.06). In the finals of the event the two bettered the times they had previously set. Leckovic finished in 18th place overall with a time of 1:56.12 and Overeem finished in 23rd (1:59.07).
UNM also had another swimmer who moved into a higher spot in the finals of her event. Heather Diluzio finished the preliminaries of the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.89, giving her 27th place. In the finals, she finished in 24th position with a time of 1:10.77.
Myra Will and Aimee Dunavant rounded out the individual events for the Lobos. Will placed 15th in the preliminary round of the 100 backstroke in a time of 59.59 and finished in 16th place in the finals (1:00.27). Dunavant competed in the preliminary round of the 100 fly, finishing in 34th place with a time of 1:00.57.
In relay action, the Lobos had a 14th place finish by the UNM ‘A’ team (1:53.76) and 16th place finish by the UNM ‘B’ team in the 200 medley. In the 800 free relay, New Mexico came up with its top relay finish of the meet so far. The UNM ‘A’ squad finished eighth with a time of 7:50.79. The ‘B’ team placed 13th in 8:03.31, bettering a time of 8:12.00 they had previously set in fall competition.
