Los Angeles, CA – The Ladies of Troy took advantage of 31 Lobo turnovers to upend the University of New Mexico, 55-48.
The Lobos led the entire first half and used a 14-3 run in midway through the second half to seemingly take control of the game. But USC taking, advantage of UNM turnovers and fouls, came storming back.
The first half was not pretty but the Lobos were able to outshoot the Trojans and led, 20-19 at the half.
In the second half the Trojans used an 11-3 run late in the game to take the lead. Back-to-back three-pointers by USC put the Ladies of Troy up, 45-43 with 3:14 left in the game. The Lobos were able to tie the game up at 2:46 but five fouls in the next two minutes put USC on the line. The Trojans went 6-6 from the line and went up by seven to close the game out.
Jordan Adams led all scorers with 21 points and she had five rebounds, all defensive. Mandi Moore led the Lobos on the boards with nine rebounds and she had four points and six assists. Chelsea Grear scored nine points and grabbed four rebounds. The Lobos ended the game shooting 47% and outrebounded USC, 32-30.
Next up, UNM will travel to Cal-State Fullerton. The Titans and the Lobos will meet, Monday, Nov. 25 at 8:00 (MST).
