Colorado Springs, Colo– The University of New Mexico women’s swimming and diving team was picked to finish fifth in the Mountain West Conference in a vote by the leagues coaches that was released today.
BYU was selected to finish first for the fourth year in a row with total points and six first-place votes. Colorado State received fourty points and one first place vote to finish in second place behind the Cougars. UNLV (39 points) was a close third followed by Utah (34), New Mexico (19), and San Diego State (17) in sixth place. Rounding out the preseason poll was Air Force in seventh place with 16 votes and Wyoming in eighth with 12.
The UNM swimming and diving team finished last season in sixth place with 400 points and had a breakout performance at the MWC Championships in Oklahoma City, Okla., breaking seven school records, including three relay and four individual times.a
