Quick start: The last time the Lobos began the year 4-0-0 was in the 1987 season when they won their first four games. UNM has never started a season 5-0-0. Their longest win-streak is nine games and took place in the 1992 season.
Going for 100: UNMs head coach Jeremy Fishbein has a career collegiate record of 99-60-10. He will be going for his fifth Division I win this weekend but his 100th overall.
20 and Counting: This is the 20th year of varsity competition for the UNM mens soccer program. The Lobos have recorded an all-time mark of 192-153-22 (.553).
Seventh Year UNM Soccer Complex: The Lobos begin their seventh season at the UNM Soccer Complex this weekend. UNM is 3-3-0 in home openers at the UNM Soccer Complex. Their overall record at the Soccer Complex is 32-22-2 (.589). UNM is 13-4-2 in all-time home openers.
Freshmen Force: UNMs heralded freshman class has accounted for 11 of the 12 goals scored in 2002. Ben Ashwill leads UNM with four goals.
Already Improved: The Lobos four wins is already more than UNM won the entire regular season in 2001.
Front Nine:Dating back to last season, the Lobo have won eight of their last nine contests. Their only loss is a 2-0 defeat to No. 1 SMU in the 2001 NCAA Tournament second round.
IRON MEN: The Lobos have five players who have played every minute in 2002, including junior Stian Eriksen, sophomores Andrew Weber and Danny Bills, and freshmen Brandon Moss and Matt Chavez.
Goals Galore: Last season the Lobos scored 27 goals in 21 games, averaging just 1.20 goals-per-game. Through four games this season the Lobos are averaging 3.0 goals-per-game.
RECORD WATCH???: Of course it is too early to worry about UNMs career goal mark falling to freshman Ben Ashwill, but just for fun heres where he stands. Ashwill is averaging 1.0 goals-per-game and needs 15 more to tie Edmundo Rodriquezs (92) single-season mark of 19 goals. Ashwill will have to net 53 more goals to tie Justin Sells (97) career mark of 57. i
