This weekend the University of New Mexico men’s soccer team plays its final tune-up for the 2002 season with an exhibition match against Fort Lewis College. The match will be held in Durango, Colo. on Sunday, August 25 at 1:00 p.m. (M.D.T.). Last season the Lobos defeated Fort Lewis, 2-1, in Albuquerque in a regular season match on October 5, 2001. Senior Ty Hibbert and sophomore Billy Junot both scored in the Lobo win.
• Overall, the Lobos hold a 5-1-0 record over Fort Lewis in regular season matches.
• UNM’s head coach Jeremy Fishbein was the Skyhawks’ head coach for seven seasons between 1992 and 1998.
• Lobo volunteer assistant coach Shane Huff was a member of Fort Lewis’ staff in 2000.
• UNM won its first exhibition over Yavapai Junior College, 2-0, on August 16 at the UNM Soccer Complex. Yavapai is the second ranked junior college soccer team in the nation by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.1
