COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. – University of New Mexico sophomore Terrell Golden was named Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in UNM’s 16-13 overtime loss at Baylor last weekend.
Golden, a former walk-on, had a career-high13 tackles, including four that came behind the line of scrimmage. The 5-10, 200-pound safety is currently second on the team with 21 tackles and leads UNM with six tackles for loss.
Larry Ned of San Diego State earned offensive honors, while Jarvis Wallum earned the honor for the second time this season for his special teams play. This was Golden’s first career POW honor and the second for a Lobo this season. Jarrod Baxter earned Offensive POW honors after week one.
